Operation Take a Soldier to the Movies
I heard about this on the news this morning. The organization mails a package in a popcorn box that includes a dvd, microwave popcorn, candy, drink mix, and a letter from home.

This was recommended to me by a friend, it was featured on NPR the other day. I think the message will really resonate with some of the spouses here.

If nothing else, it shows us that we're not alone and many other spouses are having to make these same tough choices.

I know its only October but its never too early to start planning for the holiday season!
I found this handy chart for mailing deadlines if you are sending mail to personnel overseas:
If you don't have anyone specific that you know to send mail to, you can try one of these organizations who provide letters of support to our troops:

There's also Operation Ensuring Christmas which provides financial, moral, and rehabilitative support to children of the fallen - http://www.opchristmas.org/

This is AWESOME! I'm so excited to pass this on.
If you go to http://www.buildasign.com/troops, they are giving away 10,000 free banners to families or friends of service members.

Boston Herald
A New Hampshire bridal shop owner is making military matrimonial dreams come true today when she hands out 50 free wedding dresses to blushing brides-to-be who are on active duty or engaged to someone serving overseas.
“I didn’t think it was real,” said Rachel Nelson, 21, whose beloved, Marine Sgt. Travis McGlew, served in Afghanistan and is now in Japan.

With Independence Day around the corner, many of us feel more patriotic now than any other time of the year. It’s important for us to remember the sacrifices our men and women in uniform are making overseas. Days and nights without loved ones, missed anniversaries and birthdays, being deployed is very lonely so let’s take a minute (and a few bucks!) to show our service members how much we love them!
