This was recommended to me by a friend, it was featured on NPR the other day. I think the message will really resonate with some of the spouses here.

If nothing else, it shows us that we're not alone and many other spouses are having to make these same tough choices.

More power to the men and women who serve this country and the people who love them!!
1I can honestly say the earlier part of my life has helped me deal with being a military wife. I didn't get married right out of college and lived 12 years on my own before my husband and I started dating. I already knew how to run a household and take care of myself before I had to survive on my own while he was on deployment. I think that is one of the reasons we have such a good marriage because the absences don't stress me out as much as they could. Don't get me wrong, I miss him terribly while he is gone, but I know I can survive.
2skb I totally agree! i always feel the women who didn't have the experience of being on their own and being comfortable just being by themselves end up with the greatest of challenge during a deployment.
